Our Surgical Process:
When it comes to your pet’s surgery, our main priority is their safety and comfort – before, during, and after the procedure.
Prior to surgery, we will draw pre-anesthetic blood work to help identify any potential risks that your pet may have. This allows us to plan ahead and minimize these risks as much as possible. We then carefully choose our anesthetics based on your pet’s individual health and surgical needs.
The morning of your pet’s surgery, we will welcome your pet and immediately focus on getting them comfortably settled in. With mild sedation on board when appropriate, one of our Licensed Veterinary Technicians will place an intravenous catheter and administer the anesthetic agents under the supervision of a licensed Veterinarian.
When your pet has been safely anesthetized, the doctor will begin the procedure, working as carefully and efficiently as possible. Support staff are available throughout the procedure to assist with surgery while the Licensed Veterinary Technician continues to focus on closely monitoring your pet’s well-being at all times. Our surgical suite is outfitted with high-quality monitoring equipment which allows us to maintain your pet’s vital signs and keep them comfortable throughout the surgery.
When surgery is complete, your pet will be relocated and continuously monitored in our recovery area. A member of our team will contact you to let you know how everything went and to arrange appropriate follow-up communication.
When your pet goes home, we will go over our post-surgical care instructions, including an appropriate plan for managing your pet’s pain during the recovery process.
